Hi all, I am planning on heading up to FHL this weekend for pig hunting and possibly turkeys.  And how is the fishing there right now?

Any reports?  Anyone else headed up?

Thanks
Bill

Just joined the forum after reading it few times the past 3 weeks. I think it's great!!

Went to FHL 4/12-4/14 and took my best friend of 33 years for his first hunt. Didn't see any pig sign in TA-29 or TA-6 but did see turkeys, quail, deer and coyote. Was dang hot, and after I had checked the weather for 3 wks constant prior to the trip with indications of cool temps --- anyway had a good time with the exception of some dummies that ended up chasing a turkey away from my partner in TA-29 right when we saw jake on top of the ridge and fence line at the walk-in gate #2. pissed me off the damn fool ran up the ridge just when I was setting up to knock of a couple calls with my box call.  The clowns had to seen us we where no more than 35 yards in --- he runs up and fires two rounds when got to the top he didn't get him obviously.  Who nos this guy could of shot someone comming up the other side or trip and shot some one.

I told them at the check station what went on and they said they thought they knew it wasn't regulars. Anyway love it up there!!

Plan on going back up around Nov. maybe quail and pighunt then.

Your worst day hunting or fishing is better than your best day at work!!

Hey guys thanks for the info.  I did not go last weekend because all the training areas were closed.
That is a bummer that some guy tried to run up the hill for a shot at the turkey.  It is dangerous when guys stalk turkeys with shotguns in areas with lots of people.  It is a lot safer if you call the turkeys to you and if everyone else did the same thing.  I remember reading that more accidental shootings occur during spring turkey season than any other.

I was thinking of heading out again, however I don't think the pig hunting is that good when it is hot at FHL.

Yotegetter, I will be in Peru the 1st of June and wavesfr I am going to a wedding next weekend.  However, I have the following weekend of May 10th open.

This weekend and the last weekend all of the training areas in FHL have been closed to hunting.

This weekend would have been great for hunting, that is if the weather was the same as it is in San Diego.
