Welcome,
You need to do a back search on this forums past postings and the links Jesse has put together and you will get more than enough info to get started. FHL is a military base and has very strict rules, especially on checkin/out, speed limit and posting your permit clearly on your dash, among others. Follow them to the letter, they mean business.
FHL is a big place and there are many wild pigs there, but they take some serious effort, even for those who hunt it regularly. IMHO, get out early, stay late, get a good topo map. And since you have never been to FHL you will need to get out of the truck and burn some leather to find recent sign, tracks, trails and rubs(there will be plenty), as well as the permanentwater sources. Most people do not hike very far from the parking areas(usually less than a mile), and if you put in the effort you should get into some good fresh sign.
Do not get discouraged if you don't score right away, as many have hunted several trips and not even seen pigs. The pigs are there, but mostly nocturnal and very educated... If it was later in the year during dryer seasons you can expect to find the pigs not very far from the permanent water sources(they will need to drink and wallow every night). The recent rains have brought much needed water and could make it more difficult to pinpoint the pigs, as they may be spread out and not be right by the river, so keep looking. Pigs can travel as far as ten miles a night to get to good food or water...
Area 30 is a very popular walkin/ primitive weapons only spot, so expect lots of company and I recommend you be there as early as possible. It gets lots of attention especially by the river and if you hike into where the feeder creeks and trails lead down from the thick cover to the river you might catch them coming or going...
10/13 are also very popular areas and are easy access, so expect some company. Look to areas that lead from the thickest, nastiest brushy cover to the water sources and feeding areas. Get there early.
The best way to get current info is to call the game shack, the gals are very helpful.
Good luck...

Hidden, Welcome but why do you have to yell so loud? Like others have said, there are thousands of posts on fhl with all the information you need. Stop yelling, my ears hurt!

Welcome to the site, Hidden Hunter.

In reference to Buckfinder's post, it's generally best to use proper case when typing on a forum site, since posting in all upper-case is considered "yelling". It seems a small thing, but it is a good way to get on people's nerves.

Anyway, as has been said, if you'll do a quick search on FHL or Fort Hunter Liggett, you'll turn up a surfeit of threads discussing where the hunting is best and how to go about setting up a successful trip. Good luck, and good hunting!

Check huntable sections thursday before you go they are training big time right now. i leave in the morrning and there are only 4 sections (30,29,27 and 25) open this weekend (21st and 22nd). They took 170 lbder out of section 27 last weekend. The past two months they came out of sec 29, sec10/13, sec 7and i think sec 15 but dont quoit me on that one. Good luck

p.s. 29 and 30 are walk in and primative, (archery, shotgun (slug) and musleloader)

Can't make it out the 28/29th as it's the closer of waterfowl. BUT, this is the time of year when the pig hunting starts getting really good. So, maybe I 'll run into a few JHO diehards out chasing those pigs... Good luck.

surfs,
Go back up to the top and look in the hog hunting links. There will be one for FHL, it will have everything you need.
It is a very large base, is divided into section, you must draw for one section at a time and hunt there, it gets very popular, especially the good sections.
Good luck...
