The public is allowed to fish Fort Riley's 29 stocked ponds and about 20 miles of streams. Some of the rules that must be followed:

• Fishing license requirements mirror the rest of Kansas. There's no special Fort Riley angling permit.

• A recreational access marker must be placed on the dash while driving within the post. They can be obtained at the Fort Riley Visitors Center, just inside the entrance at Exit 301 on I-70.

Center staff can provide basic road maps and give directions to places on the fort.

• A photo ID is required to access Fort Riley. Vehicles will be checked for current registration and proof of insurance.
