I just bought a new digital camera off of Newegg. I didnt want to go to expensive cuz I didnt have the money to put out but I really needed a new cam. I ended up going with the FUJIFILM S5100. The link is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16830122044

Does this look like a good camera? I read a few reviews and from what they are saying its a good camera for the price. Ill post pics once I get the camera.

Neal You will not go wrong with this camera, a Friend of mine bought one and let me use it for a day. I was familiar with it because I have a Fuji S602 zoom and they are quite similar. The 10X zoom is a real zoom. it also has a macro setting that works quite well. The camera is capable of some really clear shots.

Neal, first off, I by no means am the best photo guy here, but I will help when I can.

Like Quailsroost said it looks like a great cam. I agree on the 10x zoom. That to me is a minimum. If you use the digital zoom beyond the 10x you will notice the pixelation fo the photo.

One thing that stands out to me is the fact that you can take pics in RAW. This is the uncompressed file format. Unlike .JPG, where you can lose some of the data in a picture, RAW keeps all the data in the file. The down side is the files are going to be the same as the megapixels most of the time. A 4Mp cam will give you 4 Meg files. You also have to post process them in software to convert to a JPG file. But it does save you sometimes when you get a lowlit shot or overexposed shot.
I'd start by shooting in .JPG then if you feel comfortable switch to RAW after a while.

My only advice would be to get the largest, fastest memory cards you can afford. That you can never have enough of. Also, carry spare batteries with you and change them before you have to.

If I think of anymore to add I'll do so as I remember.

Congrats on the purchase!

Thanks for the help fellas! Thats why I love this forum! So many friendly people who are always willing to help. I never understood what the "raw" mode was but that pretty much summed it up for me. Thanks again.

It comes witha 16mb xD card which is nothing... gonna stop at bestbuy before my trip friday and grab another card that way I can shoot lots of pics. Try to get a 512mb or 256mb card.
