ok guys so we headed up friday am, but not after a quick stop at tejon to try our am luck!!! we arrived at the gate of tejon at 430 ready to find whatever we cld before the long drive up to tejon.. we drove around for about 2 hrs and only saw a few small hogs not worthy of a $5 Etip.
On the way to the gate we catch a lone boar crossin road about 100yrds in front of the truck.... we jump out and drop him!!! gutted, skinned and tagged all in about 25 mins, and we checked out at the gate!!!
He headed to work, and i headed to Hollister for the weekend hog hunt at the French!!!
got up there about 2pm and hung out with the guys till about 430 and they cooked us an amazing dinner before we headed out for the night hunt!
we drove around in the moderate heat till almost dark and didnt see a single hog.... till we came around a bend and saw a group of cows around a water hole.. i looked carefully and noticed that one of the cows was laying down but had hairy ears???? HOG!!!! about a 220lbs lone boar layin down eatin acting like a cow!!! good try but my pops loaded up as he stood and dropped him!
small teeth but a really nice boar good eater!! It took us 2.5 hrs to get back to base camp!!!
The next morning we set out at 445 or so and started our mission of finding me a hog... not more than 30 mins in we spot 2 boars on the side of a hill grazin away... one big black boar and mine a nice red/black boar. we park the jeep and stalk up to within 350yrds. matty our guide looks at me and says "do you think u can make the shot?"
as he said that i let go 150grain E tip from my 7 short mag...
Whooooop.... done deal. upper shldrs spine shot right where i was aiming!!! as he rolled down the hill, Matty looks at me and says "well i guess that was a yes". as i laughed at him....hes an amazing guide and after all these years a good friend too!
One of the guys was using a 270 and decided it was a good idea to take a 300+ yard shot at a 200lbs sow. nice job as she tumbled 10 ft and got up and ran off into the brush!!!
we went in after her and all we found was 3 drops of blood and an acre marijuana farm!!!! mexi cartel!!!!
same place as last year!!! sheriff came in and disposed of it!!!
wasnt with the other guys but they all got hogs, and the last was a trophy!!!

its $1000 for hunt
and $600 trophy fee!
and worth every penny, so if you want a wall hanger this is the ranch!!!!

kcravnit - new to hunting hogs. Just put in for the SHARE draw on Tejon. I was noticing what looks like lots of head shots from pics on this site. Is that ideal? You seem like you know what your doing so I thought I would ask. Thanks.
