From a fun Christmas hunt last year east of Yuma. The dove hunting was spectacular. However, the quail were tough. Done with Elements, converting the original to sepia, then doing a Layer Mask to let the color portion of my buddy show through. WB
Hey Henry, that is pretty darn cool!! You did a good job seperating the subject from the background. Did you use the magnectic lasso to select the background? Great job!
Jason - Thanks. To do this I copied the original layer (as usual) from the Layers Pallet, then sellected an Adjustment Layer (lower left ikon) for Hue Saturation. I then converted to Sepia with 31, 25. After saving I selected my buddy using the Magnetic Lasso and filled it with black. This created the mask to let the color through for the selection. Henry
Hi Scott - Thanks. I am using Elements 2, the best for the learning curve. I took a couple of classes to get kick started. Cheap to buy at about $50 with rebates. Next up will be PS 8 when it is released at the end of the year.
Be sure to hunt AZ. A bargain for non res. With lots of quail and waterfowl possibilities.
WildBird is right, you need to take a class or two even if you are just using Photoshop Elements. It will really help. I took an online class for $20 and learned ALOT. To actually get any benefit of the tools, you need a class. Elements is a GREAT little program.
WB, I'd like to have the full version of PS but I'm not sure I can justify the cost? I did hear that PS 8 was coming out soon. Did you see that Adobe is offering PS 7 to Elements users for $299? That's still alot of money. Before I could ever think about getting the full version, I'd have to upgrade my pc, which I need to do. My processor will just barely run PSE 2.lol
Jason - For anyone interested in upgrading Elements with most of the PS features check out my post on another forum for details and a link for download. Henry
