Give a Lifetime License and Stamp with the Diploma

CHEYENNE – Have your graduate walk into the future with two important documents: a diploma and a lifetime small game/bird and fishing license.

“Giving the gift of a lifetime license is a great way to promote the state’s renowned fishing and hunting,” said Jean Cole, the Game and Fish Department’s license accounting manager. “Like luggage and watches, it would be great to see lifetime licenses become a traditional graduation gift for Wyoming’s young people.”

Lifetime small game/bird and fishing and lifetime fishing licenses were created by the 1996 legislature. The licenses are available only to Wyoming residents of 10 years or more. The combination license is $400; fishing only is $250. The license continues to be valid if the holder moves from Wyoming.

When lifetime licenses went on sale July 1, 1996, Gov. Jim Geringer was first in line.

Both residents and nonresidents can purchase a lifetime conservation stamp for $75. The lifetime stamp is a particular value now with the price going up to $150 next year.

All lifetime licenses and stamps are sold through the G&F’s Cheyenne office. Call the license section at (800) 842-1934 to find out the procedure of buying the products as gifts.

Through May 1, 3,122 lifetime small game/bird and fishing licenses and lifetime conservation stamp, 1,973 lifetime fishing licenses with the lifetime conservation stamp and 5,830 lifetime conservation stamps had been purchased by hunters and anglers.
