Hi all,

yep, F350 is right. I read JHO about 2 times a day and hardly contribute. well here goes.

Me and a few buddies are heading up (or down, as I will be coming from Sacramento) to Chopper's place this weekend. We are beyond stoked!! We have been planning this thing for what seems like an eternity. Needless to say I have been making my list and checking it twice (bow...check, arrows...check, beer....check, poker chips...check, cigars...check, etc...).

Any tips on the "hot spots" at his ranch? My plan is just to basically listen to what chopper has to say and go from there. Thanks in advance.

-p.s. just got my first boar head mount back from the taxidermist (Dick's Taxidermy in Granite Bay), he did a heck of a job.

We saw most of our hogs around the pond with the deer stand near it. Ask chopper about it.

I think you've hit on the best plan for success right here, RW. Chopper knows his property, and he knows where the hogs are moving. Listen to the man, and do what he says. If he doesn't put you right on the hogs, you'll certainly be in the right area. From that point on, it's up to YOUR hunting skills.

It should be drying up pretty good, so I'd bet you'll be hunting close to the water holes. But again, Chopper will know best.

Good luck, wish I could get back out there!

My advice would be just as Spec said, listen to Chopper...I hunted a very small portion of the ranch & had great success, one kill & two hits. I did walk quite a bit and saw sign pretty much everywhere i went....you can even leave straight from camp and have great hunting. Here's a tip though, he drinks Michelob Ultra....bring him a few and he's liable to give ya a some insider tips!

You'll have a great time, the cabin is great & be nice to dolly...odds are if ya stick one, she'll be your new best friend.
Just remember, ya can't kill'em unless ya shoot at 'em.

Thats what i was thinking Rick, its always been coors light. Maybe he's doing the low carb thing now. If all else fails, I know you cant go wrong by bringing some V.O. And yes, Listen very closely to Chopper, He knows that ranch. Its like he psycic sometimes!!!

Well, I guess I have to tell the story. I'll make it short. 6 guys came and I know 3 of them saw hogs every day. 1 guy even got 3 shots and hit 1 but lost it. 1 guy hit a turkey and lost it. The other 3 guys didn't see hogs till the last day but said they were too far away to put a stalk on.
