I lost my hunting spot last year that I hunted for alot of years, and was forced to find new ground for this years Bow season. I scouted alot of properties and searched alot of areas before I found something I liked. Nice part is Its 2 Minutes from my house. Its funny how you live somewhere for 3 years and dont really get to Know the surrounding areas and who owns what. Well I was forced to find new ground, so started to really pay attention, turns out I have some sweet ground just a few short minutes rom my house.

I have scouted this area pretty hard. approx 200 hours.
Its a tough area to hunt, No funnels or natural draws, Like I am used to, It has several VERY large overgrown fields within the property field with briars, sumac, and small berry producing foilage approx 4-7 feet tall. this is where there bedding. No trees within it, tough for me since I like to hunt bedding areas. so will need to learn trails entering and exiting, which I have been doing.

Feed is everywhere, there is a VERYYY heavy supply of natural apple tree some regular eating size and all sorts of browse. theres a Highway that broders the property and on the other side is 150 acre standing crop fields filled with Corn this year, last year was soybean. alternates every year. so food Is plentiful.

I have been running 6 Game Cams in this area now for about 2 1/2 weeks to scout the areas trails and get a feel. I have seen while walking the area some Good Bucks. 1 Of which is pushing Booner status. They have eluded my cams , But I have been fortunate to catch 4 P&Y Bucks on the Cams.

A Large Buck I have seen 2x now has been bedding in these high overgrown fields by day. I have pushed him 2x now and got a real good look at him 1 week ago. he is a perfect 10 Point with no garbage. The last time I saw him I saw him from front, back and sides He is Pushing 30-32" at the widest point and comes in VERY lil, his Inside spread is approx 26" he is a 5x5 and very lil deductions. Im guessing him from last I saw him at 175" gross. From the sides he is past his Nose by approx 3" to 4". I have his main beams at 28" each side

He lacks tine length still but is still growing His main beams are done, but G2',G3's and G4's are still adding there still dark black and balled on the tips, whereas the others are now pointed and brownish velvet in color. I expect his tines to reach 12-14" when done, on his G2's and G3's Im guessing there ar 9-11" now.. His eyegaurds are around 6" when he is done Im thinking he will go 180-190 Inches gross.

I got a real Crappy picture of him the other day, out alonggg ways about 75-80 feet. You can see the onse side somewhat but loose the other side in the branches but can see parts of it. On my original its much easier to see, But I wll try anyhow.

I am not sure why i got him so far, he was cutting across the cam and I should have gotten him closer, but got this one pic only. Its tough to see so I blew it up a lil, But loose quality fast. But I know its him from seeing him in the past.

I hope to get some better pics and will sahre them if I do... I am putting together a Pic list on my webshots in next few days of some of the Bucks I have been getting. I have alot of Deer out to the ears, But only about a dozen past there ears. will sahre them soon.

Here is One I am placing on my Hit list come this Fall... Im Hopeful to get a chance and personally ventilate him and ground score and age this Deer this Upcoming Bow season...

Great measurements on that Buck OBH, you know we will all be pulling for you to take this one if you can. Going by those numbers you have stated anybody would like to have one like this close to home.

You are correct about not realizing there may be a big one close to your house and you never know it. My biggest ever I took only 3-4 miles from my house and I was leasing around an hour and a half drive one way to get to the lease property. Since I have gotten into this cam business I have found I have several big bucks around the house that I would have never know exist. That is the wonderful thing about building and having the cams.

Good luck with collecting him this coming season, might not be the ole big boy you were after last year but he is going to be a good one!

That is a beauty OBH! Back in the early 80's when I first started bow hunting I could go anywhere and get permission to hunt, now it is a struggle around here unless you want to pay the lease rights to get on the land! I cannot blame the farmers for doing it but it sure makes it tough. I have 2 farms left that I have exclusive rights to and one other farm that I am 1 of 2 people that can hunt there, and I never know from year to year what is going to happen!

Dan, Real Nice Buck, as well as the others on your other post. Now with that said you realize come season you will have to put down your oly 750 this year and pic up your bow to harvest one of them

Thanks Everyone for the Kind words... I wish I had a better Picture to share... Its a Pretty large area and I got a Bunch of cams in there, But its a crapshoot getting him again... Im Praying that happens.

Bat,

It is funny how you overlook things like that... It just seems you need to get in the car and drive a bit to go Hunting, But Im not going to complain to much. Im blessed to have this spot at almsot my back door.

9 Toes,

Yes its a new area trying to get a handle on it. Understanding there seasonal patterns and such. Its amazing how much things cahnge from one area to the next.

MooseJaw,

Yes they sure do get the Blood Pumping.. The day I dont get excited over BowHunting Whitetails wont likely be until I meet our maker... They sure keep us young at heart.

Mr.Pike,

Thanks. real tuff picture to see... seems I always get them far away... Im drinking lots of Mountain Dew before the next time out. need to freshen up some areas about 10-15 feet out from the cams...

CoonDog,

Thanks, Gonna give it my best... Nice thing about this spot is I can get in there for evening hunts after work and then all day each weekend. Since its close by so Im excited about that.

theck,

I need some of them apples you been using to get them in closer for a posed shot like some of those shots you have been sharing...

WildeBeast,

You can see the one side ok. the other side gets lost in the brush but is Identical. I got everycam I own in there now trying to egt a descent shot.

Harley,

Yes Leases are starting to catch on here in Ohio... I was non educated on leases and actually looked into it, But passed on it. Liabilty and chance to make some Bucks is what its getting down to for alot of the landowners, your rite its getting harder and harder.

GHog,

I will have my Trusty Oly 750 with me... There are times I forget I am hunting and get carried away with the camera. But then I can enjoy them forever that way. If this one comes along REST assure he will get Ventilated if he comes inside of 30 yards and offers a boiler room shot.

Born2Hunt,

He's a good deer, I wish I had the pictures of him that you had with Goliath. He was majestic standing over that corn pile...
