A friend of mine came from down south yesterday and wanted to shoot a hog......I told him
I would meet him up the canyon and I went and picked up another buddy (Mike) and off we
went....we pulled up and looked around and didn't see any sign of a hog or anything else for
that matter...we dropped Joel off and Mike and me went around and were going to meet him
at the bridge on the other side of the property....we were talking and laughing
(basically making fun of Joel about him more than likely shooting a cow) when we heard a
shot...we drove back around looking for him and spotted him crossing the field....when
he reached the jeep we asked if he got one and he said he shot a 100-150 pound "tusker"...
we wnt back to town and dropped Mike off, grabbed the truck and quad and headed back to
get the hog....by the time we got back it was dark....going by Joels discription of where
the hog was and seeings where we forgot a flashlight it took a while to find it....
I pulled up and put the quads headlights on the hog......it wasn't no 150 pounder.....it was
closer to a 250 - 300 pound boar with 4" tusks and only one ear....well we took a few pics
and proceeded to dress it out...we got back to the truck and were heading back when a bunch
of hogs ran across in front of us heading down into the creek.....I'm a little stumped
here....I've never seen hogs that flat don't care if your shooting or skinning out one
of their buddies.....all these guys want is to get into the creek and root around.....
must be something mighty tastey there.....I should get the pics developed today and
hopefully they will turn out.....paper throw aways arent the best camera's to take night
pics with.
