Speck, what's the deal with the piggy? I'd pop him.

It'll cost ya.

I was down in Jolon taking some pictures for the Native Hunt newsletter. This guy, a pure european boar, is inside the fenced 1400 acres.

We were looking to catch him and his twin to get the marker tags off of them. Caught this one with the dogs a few minutes after I got this photo... he thought he was slick, circling around behind the dog truck. He had no idea I was there until I started snapping photos.

I'm not a "dog guy", but it was quite the adventure when they put the dogs on him.

Anyway, just shared because he is one heck of a nice specimen... kinda like sharing photos of the off-limits bucks.

I notice that his ears aren't all raggedy; he doesn't look like he's done much fighting around there or barbed wire fence crossing. Like you said; a dandy specimen

Good eye, 410.

He's a barr hog... no cojones, which probably explains why his teeth are as long and pretty as they are too.

He sure gave the dogs a fit, though. One ear ain't as pretty as it was anymore.

I did notice at first glance no scars, marks, or even a hair out of place. No cajones means no fighting? Nice hog either way, good pic Speck

Barr hogs don't chase or protect sows, so they don't really fight all that much (if at all). Their tusks get long and they don't carry a lot of scars, unlike most mature boars. In a few years, this guy'll be as big around as a barrel, too... no sex = fat.

Heh heh... ever notice how most men suddenly gain weight when they get married?

Some folks are just big-boned, Gomer. Don't worry.

My friend shot a big boar on a private ranch that didn't have any cajones either but when we got up to him his ears were all torn up, like he had been fighting. The ranch guide said that they do not cut the pigs so we don't know how or when it happened. Also, he did not stink like some of the big boars can.
