Just got home from my going away party. Supposed to fly out tomorrow morning non-stop from reno to chicago. I get home to a message from American Airlines telling me that my flight is cancelled and that I have been re-booked on a later flight that stops in Dallas first and ends up in Chicago around midnight...an extra 6 hours of travel and layover time. Why did I pay extra for the non stop flight??? I start my new job in Illinois tuesday morning so I can't tell them to shove it, but I feel like I just got hosed. Anyway, just venting....I'll let you all know if my beef gets me anywhere with the airlines tomorrow. I'm gonna try to get a free pass for this one.

If you paid extra for non-stop, then you should get it. Or a refund.

And now they are going to start charging $25.00 extra for a second checked baggage that was included before.

It's a miracle that any airline is able to stay in business.

Yeah...I've always wonder that, even before fuel went crazy...Just look at what a plane costs...

747-100 US$24 million (1967)
747-200 $39 million (1976)

747-400 $228-260 million (2007)
747-8 $285.5-300 million (2007)[/b]
How do they even get enough people and cargo on one of those to pay for them??

The days of flyin in style are over. SW is really the only viable option, as they keep turning profits. No crashes, and they worry strictly about ticket cost. I loved Frontier. Directv, full bag of hot breadsticks, and 2 full Cokes.

I hate to fly.
I have a friend who is a pilot for Northwest.
A neighbor who flys for Alaska Airlines.
And a friend who is an attendant for American.
Even with the pay cuts they all make "bank."
What with the fuel costs the airlines are in a quandry.
What's next.

I just don't understand how a 747 can cost almost $300million. It's just some a couple engines, aluminum, rivets, a meter or two, and a steering wheel right?
