Hey Everbody, my names Jesus.
My gf’s little brother drew the jr hunt for 4/8-4-9 of this season and we’re trying to gather as much info as we can about the place since we’re almost 3 hours away.
Any info you could share would be appreciated.

Gray Lodge is full of turkeys and they can be very difficult to call in. My experience with my Jr., we tried setting up a blind to call them in (my Jr is just too fidgety to see by a tree for hours at a time) but the birds were too wary to come close.

I suggest trying the “run and gun” approach. A crow call and an owl call (for the morning) will help you locate the Tom’s.

When you are ready for breakfast, I suggest driving to Gridley Grill. They had the best biscuits and gravy I’ve had in years. They changed ownership not too long ago and it’s my understanding that the new owners keep the chef on staff.

God luck,
Scotty

So the JR hunts up there are not guided hunts? NWTF guides the JR hunts down in San Diego County.

I hunted Gray Lodge last year. I scouted day before - it was close to 90 degrees and received not gobbles. Day of the hunt, a winter storm was approaching and there were the strongest winds I ever hunted in. I did flush birds from tall grass, but could not identify a tom to make a ethical shot. That being said, find tall trees between marsh areas and post nearby with decoys before sunrise. Try to call.
