Howdy Jesse,

the setup from the site you listed seems to be as simple as a flat plate which is adapted to the tripod mount then you lay your binoc's on the plate and use Velcro straps to hold them in place by going over each barrel tube of the binoculars

seems a bit flimsy to me....hehehe

an easier solution is to make yourself a mount that is easily made as most binoculars are tripod mountable ,even cheap ones
you can remove the front cover(most binoc's have a piece of plastic glued into place here) from the pivot screw in the front between the ocular tubes and this is usually threaded , it may not be 1/4-20 but can be utilized

i have a pair of Pentax 8x56 DCF's that have a cover on the front that hides the tripod mount which is actually the center pivot for the binoc's allowing them to be positioned for different folks eye spacing

the cover screw is actually a cap that can be removed by simply unscrewing it to access the tripod thread mount on the front of the binoc's and it is threaded 1/4 -20 which is the same as most standard tripods

the trick is to make yourself a mount from fashioning a kinda L shaped section of aluminum or steel (use angle iron or weld up what you need from two sections of material)which then mounts to the binocular face then to the tripod via the standard tripod screw
the L shaped bracket is about 2 inches square on the bottom and is drilled and tapped in the center for a 1/4-20 thread to fit there from the tripod base
the upward section of the L shaped mount is about 3 1/2 inches tall(this had to be narrowed to fit between the binoc ocular tubes to about an inch wide where the bolt attaches it to the binoc's) and has a hole drilled in it to let you bolt this to the binoculars with a 1/4-20 bolt and walla you have a rock solid tripod mount

i have used mine many times with a tripod and it makes for steady viewing of distant objects

if you want i'll take a close-up pic or make a detailed drawing for anyone interested

Good Luck !

If you're not mechanically adept ala GunDocc, some of the optics suppliers sell the tripod adaptors for binos.
