hello fellow shed hunters,I had posted this picture over in the game camera section, and had an idea since then.Being a fanatic shed hunter,I thought it would be interesting in a guess the score competition.

I have yet to find his sheds, however I will be looking hard to find his crown. For a little fun here, whoever is interested in posting their guess at the left and right scores,I will post the actuals when and if I find them.

It'll be interesting to see who is the best at scoring by a picture.

To be fair I'll start the scoring at 84" for the left side and 90" for the right.

This picture was taken Jan/16, and I haven't seen him since. The bucks should be dropping shortly as were having -40C weather as of late.Hopefully I'll get out this weekend to take a look foe sheds.

Good luck!

I'm going to guess 83.5" right antler, 77" left side and I'm probably low. Even so, if he has a 19" inside spread he's a 180" deer easy. Those are about the best pictures you could ask for with which to estimate the score of the rack. An awsome buck and look at those G-1s. I'm not sure how big his body is....like is he a hog or an average body size buck. Keep us posted on the search for the sheds. You ought to take a leave of absence from work to find them if you have to. You're not thinking about that buck when you'ree trying to fall asleep at night are ya?

Being from Texas our deer are slightly smaller body wise. Give us a clue how much that deer will weigh. How wide is it from ear to ear on your deer.

I'll say 85 inches right antler and 79 for the left side.
Good luck finding them!

I'll say 94 right and 88 left gross. He may ever score into the 190's.

I already entered my guess. I was just thinking as I was looking at the pictures again, that buck probably isn't more than 4.5 yrs old, maybe 3.5? What do you think. Are there other folks out shed hunting in the area where you photo'd this buck or is it just you? I'd spend every spare minute I had looking for those (and I'm sure that's what you've got planned).

got some good guesses going here.I have not considered that my southern friends are not used to judging northern bucks. This deer will weigh in excess of 290lbs.Having seen him numerous times at less than 40yds he dwarfs the 150 class bucks he hangs with.

His spread is near 23" and beams will go 29-30".having taken a lot of trailcam pictures I've noticed that the deer generally appear smaller than really are. We've had clients pass on 180 class deer when offered the opputunity to hunt one that we have pictures of.Just because they don't look that big.

This deer lives very close to town and is a master at eluding hunters.I'd guess him at 4.5 years old. There is not really any shed hunting pressure here however snowmobilers will pick up antlers if they drive over them. But die hard types are very uncommon.

This deer is crossing a busy road to feed in a barley field, and I'm hoping he does'nt drop his horns in the middle of the road. The temps. have been in the -30 to -40 range as of late, so that should get them dropping.I would say that 80% are still packin' at this time.Hope to get out tomorrow if it warms a bit.

Good Luck

It's very interesting to see that were getting scores from 150 to upper 190's.Just goes to show that we all see things differently. It is hard to score from a picture, especially when there is nothing in the picture to relate size to.

I've checked the field he's feeding in, a couple of times in the last 2 weeks.Theres a pile of snow and thats gonna make it tough finding antlers.

When I find one,I'll let you all know for sure.

Good luck

Bowman, I did give him credit for beams in the 29" area but not a 23" spread. I saw Laker's comments on that but I won't change my guess on the score. I can't recall who just came in with a guess of 150" but I think that's way low. By the way I don't know about everyone else but I'm just guessing gross score, not concerned with deductions. I see a couple of folks commenting about deductions...I guess gross score and the hell with deductions.

You bet, gross scores only.Never have believed in net scores anyhow. If a 150 class deer was standing beside this buck he'd look like a 120"..I've seen him numerous times out feeding with 150" bucks and he dwarfs them.

I guess we won't know for sure till horns are in hand.

Anyone interested in helping out with looking??

Good Luck
