Guys,

I have a problem with the screws holding the action in my Howa 1500 .300 Winchester Mag coming loose after shooting 25 rounds or so. Is this normal? Is it okay to put some thread locker on it? Any help would be appreciated!

Hanginghog,

I'd recommend posting this in the Gunsmithing forum. You'll get some seriously qualified responses there.

Yeah,
What Speck said.
I would never treat metal on a firearm with coatings, adhesives or treatments unless a qualified gunsmith said it was safe.
Good luck.

Speck and F-350 are right about better responses in the other forum. But yes I had the same issue. After about 40 rounds out of my new Howa 1500 ('06) I had the same issue. I haven't used any loc-tite yet, just tightened them back up and then forgt all about it. It has happened to me twice so I guess some loc-tite may be in order now.

Be sure to check Loc-Tite's web site before applying any thread-locker...many have different strengths & will be more or less permanent. I use a paste type product that works well and is removable with little effort.
If you have any ?'s e-mail me & i can steer you in the right direction.....my business card says i'm an "adhesives specialist", but take that for what it's worth.
