I know the name of the game. But hoping for some generous folks out there that can lead me at least close to water.
I'm itching to go hunt this coming weekend for pig. But really have no idea where to start. I've heard there are pigs in Santa Barbara, but a lot is private land.
I'm not trying to ruin a spot for anyone. I'll be going in alone and hiking in.

I know fort hunter ligit is good, but for this trip it's a tad to far. I'm looking for something in between there and Los Angeles. Or basically within two hours or so of LA.

When I drove up to FHL last year my brother said a lot of the land we passed all has boar on it. But I'm not sure if it's private or not.

Just looking for some advice so I can get out this weekend and not just hike with a gun.

Please PM me if you can help.

Thanks everyone!

I believe its called OnXmaps, tells you private from public, owners names boundaries ect. you can scan thru it till you find and area of public land there looks promising. Keeps you legal and out of trouble, plus names to try to see if you could get permission to hunt on their property.
Best I can do for you, hoping to be able to do the same when I get my OnXmaps for Christmas

I have it. And yes it's a great resource. But it doesn't necessarily tell you where to start.
I use the app version on my iPhone.

Yep, as one who recently started hunting public land for pigs after years and years on private i can give you an exact starting point even though it was discussed here and on all other forums 1000s of times.

1. Find public land( you have the tool).
2. Research it on the internet, maybe there are some references on hunting forums. Do not ask questions. No one is going to tell the truth if the pigs are there. Most likely they will tell they are not even if there plenty.
3. Research on the google maps if it looks like good pig environment(read on pigs habitat on the forums)
4. Put your boots on the ground, start scouting. If you see pig signs, keep going. If not, go to #1 and repeat

After you find your first spot with pig signs, let alone kill your first pig, come here and tell us where it is exactly and how much you want to share your "starting" point.

But frankly and in all seriousness. if you ask those kind of questions, not the environmental, behavior, habitat, means you even did not spend a couple of hours on hunting forums to research the topic. You are looking for an easy way which is completely understandable. i can give you a coordinate for sure and easy public property hunt close to your house with wide variety of game to choose from.
here is one of them, but you can find more

Sweet. I didn't even know you could hunt in Griffith park. I wonder what happens if you cross over into the wild cat habitation. Can you get a tag for California Africa animals?? Lol

I thought he was pointing to Costco. I figured it was the meat department. Don't get any easier than buying it. [emoji6]

Yea in think it was Costco. I just went with the park across the street. Some guys are funny like that. I don't know any public spots or I would for sure help you out. Best of luck buddy. Get boots on the ground somewhere.

This is the point, it is sooo good, you even do not need weapon to hunt there. Even better than high fence or "guided" pig hunts. Just a sec, did i call it hunts?
