Harties Ranch

I am looking into the Harties Ranch for an Elk hunt this next year. Has anyone ever heard anything about this ranch? It was recently shown on the tv show "Wildlife Point Blank".

I have spent the last 6 years hunting close to the Fred Harties Ranch. The place is loaded with elk! But, the hunt ain't cheap. I now hunt on a ranch about 10 miles away, but in the past, I had permission to be on a small piece of property just across highway 12 less than 2 miles away. Everyday the herds could be seen either grazing or bedded in the trees @ Harties. 1 year, the hunting was slow for us and there was about 200 elk looking @ us across a fence line, so we stopped by the Harties to ask about maybe hunting a cow, the ranch housing was awesome with huge hanging/cooler building. Very nice. We were denied access, but the ranch manager was really cool about it.

Yort, thanks for the info. I talked to Fred and he seemed really cool. One thing I have concerns over is that they are mostly tree stand hunting which I don't know if I like for elk.

Well, we start our annual 19 hr. drive today @ noon. Last year, our family had 7 out of 7 cows down. As far as the Harties Ranch, it's high success rate has a lot to do with the fact that the whole area is private land, and only a few land owners allow bull hunting to paid hunters. So pressure is light for an area with such a big Elk population.

I saw 2 nice bulls were taken on Scent-locks "Point Blank" show last night. But, they did use the tree stands.

Yort, that is how I even found out about the hunts was from that show. I am all set. I will certainly report back. Thanks for the info!!!
