Has anybody hunted in Sierra County New Mexico?

I might be in Truth or Consequnces New Mexico this fall on family business . Has anybody hunted mulies or elk in that area? I imagine that public land hunting is pretty crowded in New Mexico since the best areas are concentrated near the Colorado border . Any guide recomendations ?

There is some pretty primo elk hunting in the Gila Wilderness west of T or C. Everything is on draws out here (deadline to apply is first week of April) unless you want to pay the big bucks for a land owner permit. The Armendaris ranch will sell you a permit, don't know how much. I know one of the guides on the ranch, pretty much everyone gets their elk.

I just looked up the Armendaris Ranch and of course Ted Turner owns it what doesn't he own? I have to admit to being jealous but someone has to do the dumb jobs I guess that be me. I am going to take a stab in the dark and say the total cost will be plus 10k.
