Sorry for the late reply, just got back from Missouri helping out Fubar get his 1st eastern turkey.
For hogs JohnnyP, check out Fort Leonard Wood, bowhunters have been taking hogs out of the sout hend for a few years. We saw sign just south of the FOrt off Hwy 17 near Mark Twain N.F., but most of it was on private farms. It's pretty easy to get permission to hunt if the landowners are not hunting the land themselves. What you doing in the Gateway City, getting ready to receive the Stanley Cup right?
BirdDawg, I hunt pretty much all over Missouri except for maybe the NW corner. My Dad has 2 farms in NE Missouri we hunt a lot. Missouri is blessed with many public areas that are virtually empty during the week which is great for bowhunting deer and turkeys. What area or areas are you looking at?
Here is the link to the Missouri Dept. of Conservtion's talk forum where there are many who can also help with info.
I hunted in missourri in November. I was in the north east corner. I was Hunting with Steve Shoop of J&S trophies. I didn't get anything but still had a good hunt. My brother scored on a 148 inch 11 pointer. He was real happy.
Its a small world. I sold Steve and Jill my old '89 burb back in '96 from a newspaper ad. I think it was his third one so they could haul hunters from the airports and around the farms. Super nice people and the cutest little ~4 year old girl.
Yes I got a real kick out of Steve and his stories : )
I saw pictures of his daughter at the lodge she is a cutie and to listen to Steve talk about her. He is very proud of her. Real nice people.
