Any one know any good (legal) areas around apple valley for yotes and cats? I am new to the area and have driven around but was told most of the area is not legal. Is BLM land legal to hunt with high powered rifle (223)?
thanks

I've heard there are quite a few in the NF around Lake Silverwood. It's all legal up there as far as I know. As far as down in the desert where you're at, I think there are some shotgun only areas. Check with the local sheriff... they should have a map showing what is legal. Others on the board will probably have more info. Good luck!    Scott

That area is shotgun only.  The dividing line is the highway that runs from Barstow to Kramer Jct.  Anywhere above that highway is single projectile.  The BLM website for that area has a shooting map. But, as far as I know if you go into the Natl. Forrest you can use rifles for hunting as long as your a licensed hunter.
