<div align='center'>Hey everyone.... I realize that my question isn't along the lines of backpack hunting, but I figured that you’d be the best forum to ask. I'm trying to find a good hiking trail that is w/in 1 1/2 hour drive from Bakersfield, CA. I'm not looking for anything too aggressive, as there will be kids on the hike. We're just wanting to take about a half day hike w/not too long of a drive.

Thanks in advance!</div>

BTW, If you want to take a longer ride/trip, try Yosemite NP, it's an awesome place man!

Take a look at MT. Baldy. How old and how much hiking have the kids done?

To the east the closest access to bakersfield will be off of hwy 178 up the kern river canyon toward lake Isabella. The southern Sierras or the Greenhorn mts both have many trails.
To the south off of hwy I5 access to mt Pinos or Frazier park also have trails in the national forest.
