Hog calls?

anyone use hogs calls with any success? If so, what brand and model.
I'm heading up to hunt a friends private ranch this weekend. We've been skunked three times on what should be prime property and want to get something this time.

A few companys make a few different models. Personally, I have never used a call to hunt hogs, couldnt say if they work or not.

I used a couple about a month ago a Boar grunt and a piglet squiler. i blew on that thing off and on for f**king hours and im fairly certain all i called in was a mountain lion. Never new there was such a thing until i saw them at the store bought them cause im an impulsive shopper. To be honest the ones i had didnt even sound like a hog. Wish i could tell you the brand, bought after driving my dogs crazy with them they decided to eat them. please let me know if u find some that work.

the Boss Hawg is the best one I've found not found in most stores try small archery or gun stores.

I was at bass pro shops last weekend and saw a few but passed on them.

The only pig call I've seen work is done by yelling "the Home Town Buffet is now open". If done in a Walmart you get tons of waddlers heading for the door.

there is a video on youtube of a guy that uses calls and kills hogs i have a call and i have used it many times and never seen a thing

I have one that I've used. The squeal or distressed call makes them run away. The grunt can be used as a locator. They will grunt back in answer, but they won't come in. I've used it when I've been in thick terrain to locate hogs, but most of the time it just tells me there are some there. That's when they answer. Sometimes they ignore the call completely.

i used an electric call once. i dont think theyre legal in here in cali though.i could be wrong. cass creek i think was the brand.it has a few different pig sounds on it. i used it a couple times. and i had a huge boar come to check out the fuss. i used boar fighting sounds. but the boar never got close enough for a shot with a bow. and another time i used it with social grunts, mixed with feeding frenzy. i could here pigs off in the distance, and sure enough they came to checkc out the noise. it was a couple sows and their babies. came right to the call.
so i would call it a success. it didnt work every time.

I used one at my buddies ranch last year. Came with a VHS. I practiced and practiced before the trip, sounded exactly like the movie...thought I had it down, only to get there and never hear a pig make any sound like that thing makes. Sat on a ridge over a pond infested with little ones...They'd look up at us, and move away with each call. Boss Hog and a pig squealer. Doesn't work as far as we could tell, and I'm not one to give up on a call.

I have used them with very limited success. Have the squeeler and the grunt call and of the two the grunt is better. The only time it worked was when the hogs were bedded down in heavy brush and you could hear them. We use the grunt call for several minutes and a boar stood up and came to an opening to investigate and paid the price.

Other than that I have stalked in on groups of hogs feeding and used the grunt call to see if I could get a reaction. The hogs kept their heads down feeding with no reaction to the sound at all...
