We took a 180 lb Boar under my feeder Friday night that had some nice 'cutters' on him. For those who don't know what 'cutters' are take a look at my latest photos in my Hunting Game Photos II album. It'll show you why they call them 'cutters'. Actually, I had someone tell me that the lowers were called 'Wetters' and the uppers were called 'cutters'. Anyone else heard that description before?

Cool pics, Grunthunter, and congrats on your meat pig. I haven't seen black tusks and teeth like that on boar out here....the tusks on our boar are pretty much pearly white, or all the ones I've taken have been. Swamp stains maybe?

I know of that discription, only vise/versa. the tops are wetters due to the fact they are used for sharpening, like a wet stone. the bottoms are cutters for obvious reasons like you pointed out.

We have some real black sandy mucky soil they root in around here so that's where the black stains on their teeth come from. We have some areas on our lease where there are 5 -6 acres areas TOTALLY turned over. You'd swear the ranch had heavy equipment in there plowing the pastures up. There's a plant everyone just calls 'Pink Root' that they are primarily after plus they get into the Rye fields the ranch plants for the cattle. The ranch also has bath tubs set up that they will come around and fill with a mollassas mixture and they'll get into that also. All of that plus the corn out of my feeder and I'd say they make out pretty good.

I got a 120 lb red haired boar last night but no photos. That's the size I was looking for so I could stock back up on breakfast sausage before the season ends next Sunday.
