Ended the year with a Christmas Hog and now started the new Year with a Hog.... Here's how it went down...Well, after the holidays I had gain some pounds and decided to go for some pig hunting. We hunted hard the 1st day and my buddy saw one but wasn't fast enough to get a shot at it. Being that I haven't hunted for years in this area, I did more scout/hunt looking for signs and tracks to familiarize myself again . There wasn't much signs but some couple day old tracks. I decided to follow this 1 or 2 day old track around and it brought me to an open meadow where there was some rooting. It seems this is an area this particular pig likes to root. The day ended and 5 miles of hiking around ended with no pigs in sight. The next day started up early and my buddy wanted to go where he saw his pig... As we planned our day hunt that morning, at the last minute I told him I wanted to go to my area where I saw the rooting. I than would meet up with him later around his area in the afternoon. So I headed straight to the rooting area I saw the day before. As I start my hike, there was a light mist which just fogs my glasses... I hate having poor vision and I hate wearing glasses... So I get there after an hour of hiking in and saw nothing. There was a northeast breeze so I decided to still hunt northbound to get the wind in my face. Slowly I work my way along the tree lines... After an hr of still hunting I look to my left to catch a glimpse of movement and what seems to be reddish blonde animal. Even with my glasses fogging up I could tell it was a pig working his way from the trees towards me. I slowly moved to a near by tree and took aim. As soon as the pig cleared a tree, I pull the trigger, BOOM and down goes the pig at about 100 yrds... Called my buddy to come help but he was too far away and too early for him to turn on his radio so I had to pack it out myself. Thanked God for the safe and successful hunt and headed home... Thank u for reading and Goodluck to you all.
