Hog hunt this afternoon...

Went out to a property not very far away to help with a pig problem...Didn't connect, but we saw a bunch across the canyon on some other property.

On the way out after dark, I saw the biggest deer I've ever seen coming out of the strawberry field in my headlights. It went over the fence and across the road in front of my truck - as I slowed I saw that it was at least a 5x5, if not a 6x6..


BULL ELK.

He stopped on the side of the road, and I pulled up and tried to find my camera and flashlight while staring face to face with it only about 20 feet away.

Of course it trotted up the hill before I could find the camera.

Amazing.

the elk population seems to be doing good here in Calif......we are seeing them all over now..........had a cow up at my place for a couple years until she moved off to another ranch....glad she did..was afraid someone was going to shoot her being that close to the highway........too bad ya didn't get a pic.....but fun to see anywho.

I love commode huggers..........while they are worshipping the Porcelain , it give me time to get a jump on them in the field.
