Chris, welcome to the Bay Area. Which refinery are you working at?

To answer your question, the nearest public land that has hogs is Lake Sonoma, but that's archery only. Low success rate. Cache Creek west of Williams has hogs but they're few and far between and tough to find. That's all the public land I know about, but there are others on this forum who know a lot more. There is public land near Lake Barryessa but I don't know about hog numbers there. Grizzly Island has a hog hunt in March-April but that's a lottery draw.

There are some guided hunts I've read about near the Williams area but I don't remember the name of the outfitter. Search this forum and you'll find it. There are Wilderness Unlimited and Golden Ram properties in the area that have hogs. And there is always the JHO Pig-O-Rama at the end of January, and you might be able to hitch a ride with somebody.

Good luck.

Thanks, I will be at the Vallero plant in Benicia until the end of November. I hunt public land up here in the valley so some more public land hunting is fine with me, its for me about getting out and enjoying the outdoors. Though I may get a few more guys to go on a guided hunt up there.. Again thanks for the information.

Depending on what the COE does with Lake Sonoma this year, you may be able to do a hunt there but it's archery only. There is a guide that runs an operation above Lake Sonoma but I do not have his information. D&E guides up by Clear Lake, Middletown I belive, they have a website if you do a search. There's public land around Indian Valley Reservoir and there's the Cache Creek Wildlife area. Pigs are few and far between at both places.
