Im interested in finding a ranch for a fair amount of money to hunt hogs this spring. Im looking at spending around $300. Id like to have a guide but not sure that would fit into my budget. More interested in a good hog population thatll give me a good opp at taking a hog. This will be a bow hunt. Any suggestions on places to contact or any websites with a listing of ranches/guides?

Hey Oregon,

Check out Jesse's links right here on the website (look first at the Helpful links above, then go to the JHP Home Page if you don't find what you want).

A lot of the gang here has had great experiences at Tejon Ranch during the Pig-o-Ramas. They cost $300 for two and half days of hunting. It's primarily rifle hunters, but if you play your cards right I don't think scoring with a bow would be too tough. My hog from last year was taken within 30 yards. Of course, I was using my super-scoped 30-06, and it was quite the scramble to get the shot off. I'll probably hunt iron sights when I go again this year.

If you haven't already, you might want to post a similar request for info down in the Bowhunting forum. I know there are some archery only hog hunts that are usually cheaper than the rifle hunts, but I haven't participated in any of those.

Lots of good guides around the King City area. For $300 its gonna be a tough find. I use a great guide with access to several great ranches for $400. Let me know if you are interested.

Not sure you will find hogs in the northernmost part of CA, but you can find some good hog hunting in central CA. Williamson Bros. charge $300, but it's not a fully guided service. They drive you to where the hogs are and you shoot your hog. I believe it's a 2 day hunt and you stay in one of their cabins. I've been looking to do a hunt with them for some time now.

Hello Oregon Archer,

Hogs Wild .... Larry Greve in Coalinga, Ca. Hogs Wild archery area is a low fence hunt that is over 650 rugged acres. Free-range hog-hunting is available at a higher price on different areas of the ranch or a neighboring lease. Hunts Available 7 days a week. 2 day/1 hog Archery hunt. $275. 2 day/1 hog Rifle hunt. $425. $100 non-refundable deposit required in advance. NO TROPHY FEES. Free campground with BBQ pits. Cabin $10/night. Bathroom, shower, and cold box. Transportation provided during the hunt. If needed, field-dressing and skinning provided for $50. PH# 559-935-5788.

For $300.00 you won't find to many offer a guided hunt. Central Ca. is your best bet. I've hunted Larry's and it's a tough stalk in steep country in the bow area. There also are not many hog ranches that cater to bowhunters.

Found out on this web site that DFG is opening up Lake Sonoma in California's wine country to some specialized hunts, but they are specific days. there are a number of archery only hunts and it's public land. there appear to be lots of piggies, but the success rate hovers around 25% I'll try to post the link shortly.

I don't remember wherer I saw the info but somewhere up on the North Cal. Coast is a hog hunting guide that covers a pretty good area and has better than decent success. I think I may have seen it in one of my hunting mags.

I have no idea of the cost, but isn't/wasn't Dye Creek up in Redding or Red bluff?

Dye Creek is right up there, Red Bluff I think, but I always mix those two up. I believe a basic hog hunt in Dye Creek is $500+, though. Pretty pricey, although the hunting sounds really good. I think there are a bunch of ranches over near the coast in Mendocino/Humboldt area, but not sure.

I haven't seen a Hog Hunter mag in quite a while, but they always have a pretty thorough listing.
