Hey Gents,

You might think I am on drugs, but I also had to take a double take myself. This early morning while driving Grimes Canyon from Fillmore to Moorepark I saw a single hog at the N. end (bottom) of Grimes canyon. Has anyone seen any other sightings here or near Fillmore or in the river bed. Just curious.

Jess.

My father in law has property in that area, I will see if I can find some sign next time I am there.

That would be great to find pork out there.

There is a shooting range up by a lake up there...and it is owned by a hunter. I spent a lot of time sighting in my rifle up there for last season and asked him if he ever spotted any wild hogs in the area. His answer: not in 30 years. He did see one, but that thing got away from a farm so it was not really "wild" but a recent escapee. That area sure looks like it would hold em, that is why I was asking. As you go driving down the canyon from Moorpark to Fillmore, you can see a mountain that has tracks, and many of them go strait up and down, like a hog trail would...there is almost always water there too. Very interesting. Like others said, it is all private up around there, but it would be interesting to know if they are migrating around into Ventura County more.

Probably should've posted this earlier.....When we were quail hunting this past season in Lockwood valley, we came up on a skull of about a 180 lb. boar that had died last year sometime. We had seen what we thought was pig sign the past couple of seasons at this place, but no distinct tracks or anything that would substantiate our findings. But when we found this skull, that nailed it down.

Pigs have left Tejon and are on the move. Give it a few more years, we'll have em at Frazier, boys.....

I have also heard of hogs around the Lake Piru and Santa Paula area.

I've heard rumors of them spilling over from Tejon. Not a great stretch to see them in that area. More hogs for us.

The hills between Saticoy and Santa Paula have plenty of hogs. I was told that they were introduced to a ranch that was being used as a private hunting club years ago. The club is no more, but the pigs have expanded into adjacent mostly all private properties in the foothills, and in the lemon and avocado orchards. I have a friend who has solitary access to one of these private areas. He tells me there is sign everywhere and has scored everytime he has gone there. I have asked him about access, but he says that the proprietors don't welcome people they don't know. I understand, as long as he continues to bring me some bacon, wich he has several times.
