Hogs around Buellton

Since I have the grand task of picking the campground for Turkey Day, I thought maybe going up towards Buellton. So, any hogs up that way? I would hate to think that we went somewhere that didn't have any hogs or good fishing possiblities.

Fritz - There are definitely hogs in that area. However, access is once again the key. I stopped in at the Santa Ynez mill and feed store several months ago and spoke with a lady who gave me many suggestions on who to contact about hog hunting. I followed up on a few of her suggestions with no avail. I still have it on my list to try and find hog hunting on private land for free or at a low cost but, that in it self will take a lot of dedication. It is just a matter of finding the right person at the right time. Some where down the line I will go to the rod and reel club and shoot my bow when they have a meet and see if I can muster up some additional leads/contacts.

Funny you have been chosen to come up with a place to camp for turkey day. I too have a similar task. My wife wants to check out Arroyo Grande as a potential place to move to and is willing to camp up in that area. My first thought was to camp at Santa Margarita lake and take day trips from there. It just so happens that the Sat and Sun after turkey day is a CR hunt weekend. If it works out I will be camping somewhere up the coast yet close enough that I will do at least one morning hunt at CR. I have a couple of areas to check out for pigs with my bow.

I grew up in AG. My dad grew up in Pismo Beach. If you have some questions let me know and I'll do my best to help you out.

As far as camping goes. Try Lopez lake if you want to look around in AG. Good bass and trout fishing there. The camps sites are nice. We usually stay in the Bluejay or Quail areas. Each area has its own name. There are water slides there for the kids, (I know its winter). In Paso you can stay a Nacimiento Lake or San Antonio lake. Both are nice. Naci has a store and restraunt , not sure about San Antonio I am sure thery have a store there also.

My parents now live in Nipomo, (since 73) and my wifes parents are in Atascadero. Those are both places you may want to check out for housing.

PS the Albi fishing is good out of MB and Avila during the season. Salmon has been bad the last few years. I can always get you a limit of rockfish though. We have many places for them fish.

Since this is a Huny-doo nicely camp. I will head to a place with modern ammendities. (Full Hook Ups)
Plus, I want a place with a nice playground for the kids so if I just happen to go fishing or hunting, the kids don't piss off the better half because they are bored.
