So I'm out by the runway on the old Norton AFB shooting some pics and video. The new San Bernardino International Airport (SBIA). Off to the side I see 4 or 5 what looks like black and brindle colored pigs with their noses to the ground heading for the Santa Ana River bed. I grab the binos and........ and......
dang loose pack of pitbulls. There are hogs in the Santa Ana river wash on the south side of the old base but with all the new fencing I don't think they could even get on to SBIA now. They'd have to come in from the north side where the gates are.
We used to run PT around the back side of the runway and do some training down in the wash near there and we never saw them up on the base back when there wasn't a fence there. Over by the golf course and gun range would have been where they would have rooted, the rest of the base is bone dry. Never saw them over at the golf course either for some reason. Right now that area is closed, they had it open but they have it shut off at Tippecanoe now for some reason.
Sure looked like hogs at first glance though. :hog chewing: I talked to one of the bums who was dumpster diving and he said the hogs are still in the bamboo south and SE of the base. He mentioned the bridge on Tippecanoe as one spot. If you go looking stay west of Redlands City limits, them Redlands PD fellas don't have much of a sense of humor when it comes to hunting in the wash. Not sure about Loma Linda and San Bernardino PD and bowhunting in the wash over there. Caveat Emptor as always.
