I have been hearing from a few locals in big bear that wild hogs have been spotted up there. Anyone know if there is any truth to this?? If so where exactly??

Nothing I've heard that far east. Deep CReek and around Laker Silverwood but they are real scarce. Use the search to find posts about Miller Canyon and Silverwood. You'd be better off to head to FOrt Hunter Liggett or if you can afford it a guided hunt

Yea, i think that rumor is getting a little out of control. I have been hearing about those Siverwood hogs for about 15 years. Either their there and someone is killing them without anyone else knowing or what little are there are not reproducing becuase they are staying out of sight. I have been looking for them ever since i first heard about them. I've never seen a sign. But maybe im just not a good enough hunter. lol

The Silverwood pigs were all taken out by the State park rangers and the National Forest people at the Cottonwood station years ago. I talked to one of them there years ago and they had them trapped and removed. If there is a pig seen in there it is a local residents pig that just got our of the pen. There are several people in Dart Canyon that have lovestock and some do get out every now and then. The ones that were supposed to be on the westside came from one of the ranchettes in that area and are now gone as well.

Ditto what Jessie said; but I'll add that if your still interested, give the F&G officer working the area a call, he can be pretty forthcoming with information, but again as Jessie stated, you"d be better off hunting FHL.

Sweet! Maybe that will draw some of the weekend warriors who come flooding into the backcountry of San Diego looking for our exploding hog population,...... :rotflmao:
