Howdy all,

Just booked a hunt for the last weekend in October with Hoss Hog Hunting up in Maxwell, CA (1.5 hours north of Sactown). The website looks pretty cool. I also spoke with one of the guides, Mike Gardner, and he seems like a real stand up guy. He loves to hunt and is excited to show us the place. The are pretty new in the pig hunting busniess, but so far it has been archery only (gotta like that). I am stoked!! Any of y'all out there ever hunted with them??

From what i understand, it's a high fenced hunt on roughly 600 acres? Or atleast that's what i've been told by a guy that hunted there. These guys are frequent visitors to my local bow shop, seem like real good guys that know hogs.

Zimm,

You are right. I have been to choppers twice, and I love it there. But just thought I would give this place a try since it is only a little over an hour away.

yes hoss hog is a fenced ranch, i went up there and i know the two owners pretty well. half the ranch is fenced and half is not. the part that is fenced is set up for half tree stand hunters and the back half is spot and stalk, they fenced it and the dump a ton of pigs in there. when you go out there a fenced ranch is the last thing on your mind, they fenced in a gosh darn mountian and you could hike for a long long ways and never see the fence even, and its just a regular cattle fence with a hot wire. its fenced so that they are allowed to have feeders out there for the guys that want to sit in a tree stand and see a ton of hogs. its archery only so the animals aren't spooked, theres a ton of pigs and they got some toads out there, there web page got redone last week and they got a lot of the recent kills out there.
