How do you tan a hog hide

Does anyone here know how to tan a hog hide?

I've never heard of tanning a hog hide and I'm not sure of any reason why you'd want to. The hairs are like wire.

A buddy of mine asked me how to do it and I had no clue so I posted it on here. I grew up raising and hunting hogs and I know that their hair is not on the soft side. Im pretty sure my buddy doesnt want to roll up in it in front of a fire, but put it up for show.
