Night vision uses electronics that are able to detect infrared light aka heat.

There are two types. One is Night Vision which uses existing light. You can supplement the light, using a laser green light among other types. And Thermal Imaging which uses heat. There are plenty of options for both and prices can be really high, especially for Thermal. I use a Thermal scope for night hog hunting. Depending on the use you are looking for, will determine which technology you need.

Thanks for your sharing! I have searched google and found some different kinds of night vision binoculars with different prices, I found one in good shape, but I don't know if this brand & model are popular? The first one said it supports (3.6-10.8) X31Magnification. and the second model support 20X optical zoom, 4X digital zoom, what does it mean? The 20X optical zoom model can see a longer distance?

I saw similar one on wish.com for 179.00 but they have slow shipping in my experience though. VERY SLOW. Let me know what you get Andrew how they function I am in the market for some as well.

I’m not an expert but the x means how much closer an object is looking through the binocular. 7x means it’s 7times closer. The first one has a zoom that uses a infrared light and can zoom from 3.6x up to 10x. Without using the IR iluminator it can digitally go to 4x. The second one can zoom up to 20x with the IR and 4x without. Then there are recording features that I saw on at least one. What matters is how clear the object you are looking at appears. You can have 20x zoom that is shaky and grainy that is useless. It’s hard to pick one out without actually testing before you buy.

I would 10/10 recommend the CREATIVE XP as best night vision binoculars for hunting. This being my 1st foray into night vision goggles, and I was a little overwhelmed by the amount of brands and choices available, especially since so many products were so similar. After a ton of research, I decided on these and I was not disappointed

ATN and X-vission a fews great night vission binocular like these ATN PS15 and X-Vision XANB35. But i've only user experiences with the ATN PS15, it's a premium binocular comes with water- and fog-resistant night vision featuring 27 mm objective lens, 40-degree field of view and flip-up head gear.

Magnification works just like any other binos(plenty of articles online).
It's all about quality of image as canamrider said. You can have x30 but if image is blurry - won't be of any use(as in you actually gotta test those out and see if they work - don't order from websites that refuse returns or find one of those in a nearby store).
Also regarding original question - are you looking for specifically night vision(light ampliciation) or thermal one(usually bunched up with night vision, even though it's completely different)? Since If I'd be going with night vision(assuming both are allowed in your state), I'd definitely go with thermal.
