I have an Alpine Silverado that is about 6 years old. It still has the original bow string on it. I have kept it in its case, and the string looks like it is still in good condition. Should I replace the bow string even though it looks fine?

i have heard of folks changing out once a year. i am close to that. 2.5 years, and i am on my second string.

i tend to rub the string up against my clothing when i get tired during long hikes. it eats it up. i wax regularly.

i think i would judge it by the amount you shoot....and i shoot alot. your six year stuff, i would change to start anew.

I personally would change it out even though it still looks fine but if you haven't shot that much, you can check the poundage to see if anythings changed from your draw weight. If nothing really changed, the strings haven't stretch much and you should be fine for this season. Wax it up real good and shoot the heck out of it and you'll know if you need to change it or not.

Depends on how much you shoot and how often you are out in the field. I try and replace mine every year to year and a half. Even if your not shooting or hunting much with it 6 years is too long imo.
