As of 1:00PM today there were 12 taken (according to the folks at the gate).

It was nice meeting a lot of the folks who were there and seeing those I've met before. Some real nice hogs were taken, that we saw.

My 6yo, Lilly, said the best part of her entire day today was seeing the dead hogs up close and meeting "Jesses Hunting Pals"!

Good luck to everyone else who is up there and haven't got their pig yet!

AWESOME AWESOME trip. I just got home 30 minutes ago. The piggie is at the butcher, and I finally took a shower. Here's a pic, this was the 10th hog taken and was the second heavist at the time (152# gutted). I saw bigger ones at camp last night though, so I'm not sure where he'll end up overall. I'll post the story later, but here's a pic to whet the appetite. Huge thank-you to Bill and Bob (wmidbrook & oneclearshot) for taking the trouble to teach me everything and dragging this thing up and down the hills with me. This was my second hunting trip ever and the first time I ever took a shot at anything. You guys rock.

Bob, I really got a kick out of the continental breakfast you left behind this morning, thanks

best,

Just rolled in....

After dropping my boar off at the butcher.

I'm pretty sure the count was 16 hanging as of 9 A.M. when I left.
If the JHO hunters keep up the effort, I don't doubt it'll be 25 or more for the weekend.

Great time, great effort, more to follow - time to download, shower, and wash the truck.

FF&F and I hunted Friday & Saturday. We tagged out at sunset, FF&F shot a sow and I shot a bore. Both were shot behind the ear and dropped in their tracks.
Michael will post the pics soon.

We had a blast.

It was great to meet some more JHO'ers and see some of the folks I met before.

Had a great time..Met some old friends and made some new ones.
Saw more than 20 pigs while hunting. One group of 10 was running out of a canyon and after a closer look I saw the reason why. A black bear chasing right behind them. The biggest boar in the group turned to go after the bear but had second thoughts and turned back around to get out of there.
On one of my stalks on two boars feeding on a brushy hillside I spooked an Elk which made a B-line down the hill right toward the hogs.
Had many chances to shoot beyond 300 yards but didnt feel comfortable at that distance. After sitting on the side of a hill for 3 hours saturday evening a hog popped its head up 30 yards in front of me so I made an easy shot right between the eyes with a 30-06 . You would think that would be enough to put it down for good but it got right up and made it 50 feet down the hill before giving up the ghost. Tough animals!!!!!!

Just finished enjoying my first shower since Thursday. I'm working on a total of 6 hours sleep for three days. My hand-eye skills are failing me, so this is short, for me.

Vandal - that is an awesome hog photo. Congrats on you first big game kill. Nice meeting you.

Rancho - great photos. You really captured the awesome-ness of the ranch. Congrats on your hog as well, and nice to meet you.

I think most everybody had a great time. I sure enjoyed meeting everyone.

I killed a 122 lb. sow at 6:30am Saturday morning.

FForF: Thanks for the use of the radio. Please email me with a mailing address and I'll get it back to you asap.

Bubba: Thanks for the use of the gambrel. I left it with Speck. Sorry I didn't return it before your departure.

Speck: Thanks for putting the trip together.

Jesse: Thanks for the shots of Jack, and the bass lures.

Good Night!

HELL YEAH!!!

I have never had that much fun. Ever. This was my 3rd ever big game hunt and it was awesome. I've always been a DHWW... :-} In the end, Ed and I ended up getting some really sore legs and backs, but no pigs. I probably would have had to commit suicide if I actually downed a pig. I can't wait to go again. The ranch was beautiful. Saw 3 does and 2 nice bucks in velvet, one was straight out of Monster Mulies! Stalked withing about 120 yards just for the hell of it and practice for October. I think they saw me but just didn't care.

Speck, YOU DA MAN! Thank you for putting in all of that hard work and time. I hope you got a pig.

PitDog, sorry about that chair... I feel really bad about that. You should've never offered me scotch after whiskey and beer! You've got to be one of the funniest guys I've ever met. Italians are #1!

OneClearShot, It was really great to meet you in person. Can't wait to get together and do some scouting, or pig hunting again.

FF&F you owe me a good knife sharpening. Thanks for answering every one of my 127 questions.

OneTrack, Don't lie, that hog was about 435 lbs at least. And you're a son-of-bitch for getting one on a Saturday instead of Sunday night...

TwoFlatTires, it was nice meeting you. Buy better tires or learn to drive (hehehehe).

Buckeye - If you find a good honey hole in aneheim, I'll expecting an email : )

To all of you who shot your hogs from the road... I hate you. I really, really, really hate you... you lucky sons of sows! (that's a prime example of what pure green envy can make a man say)

T-Man, I'm glad it was you, not I, because I would've left it there! Very nice hog! I'm sure every bite will taste good.

Jesse - You've got a wonderful thing going on here. Thanks for the gift drawing, and creating a place for all of these upstanding people to get together. (even though some of them would consider "upstanding" to be an insult:)

After having a warm shower and double checking I've got no ticks, I'm going to bed! Good Night!

Jesse
