"LANCASTER, Calif. — Hundreds of illegal immigrants awaiting deportation rioted at a county-run detention center and had to be subdued with tear gas, authorities said Wednesday."

"The federal Department of Homeland Security contracts with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department to staff and manage the Mira Loma Detention Center in Lancaster, which holds about 900 detainees who are in the process of being deported or awaiting resolution of their cases in immigration courts."

its a domino effect, illegal immigrants coalesce with american born hispanics to create what is known as "surenos". After joining together, the illegals have strenght to cause havoc anywhere they go. Including prisons where they have the most strength. While in jail, "surenos" protect each other against rival gangs and law enforcement. these illegals are sent home (across the border), while the "citizens" get to stay in the US. therefore creating a network base for them (illegals) to return to the US and have a safe haven.

Mira Loma holds 1000 detainees, and I was there, during the riot.

On average, it takes an illegal alien, or a non U.S. citizen with papers (visa, green card, etc) approximately one to two months to see a Federal Judge here at MLDC. The reason for the back log is we are short one Federal Judge. We currenty have two full time federal judges, and one video judge.

The illegal aliens request immediate deportation when they see the judge. Depending on the nation of origin, they may be deported within days, weeks, or sometimes up to year after they are ordered deported. Countries like Jamaica drag their feet when travel documents (for deportation) are sought by the ICE Deportation officers. Mexicans get deported the fastest. Central Americans usually have to wait a month or more after deportation, because they need to be escorted to their consulate for a visit. Once Immigration gets are large enough group of central Americans, they leave in a large group.

The majority of California County Jails, and State Prisons are "controlled" by Mexican and Central American Gangs. In the jails and prisons, non gang affiliated Mexicans known as Paisas (basically "countrymen") get beat up, and violated by the gangs. They are forced to follow the program or rules set forth by the controlling gangs.
Mira Loma has a majority population of Paisas not Surenos (or Southern Gang Members). The Paisas have always hated the gang members because of past abuses. Over the last few years the number of gang members at Mira loma has increased to about 120 + -. As their numbers increased, the gang members "got stupid" and have continually tried to "regulate" the Paisas. Eerytime this occurs, we end up segregating the gang members into their own dorms, completely separate of the Paisas. The usually occurs after a small fight between groups begins to fester relations.

On the day of the riot, three gang affiliated detainees beat the crap out of a paisa at 0945 hours. Many of the gang affiliated detainees were housed with paisas as well as other nationalities, in a trustee dorm. At 1345 hours, the riot erupted within the worker barrack.
