Due to a change in plans, I may find myself in need of a Hotel Room for my sons elk hunt. Any major chain hotels / motels that are hunter friendly, or ones to stay away from because they support the anti-hunting crowd ?

Thanks,

AZ Jim

Jim, you might want to remind us of the area your looking to hunt.

I don't know any in that particular area but if it's a big huinting area, "hunting comunity" we've never had a problem. Have stayed in 3 different hotels out of state, or motels I guess, the small ones you drive your truck right up to the door, never had any problems. One place even let us hang a buck up to skin it on a tree in the back. We also butcher our dder / elk right in the hotel room too! Just bring a sturday folding table, tarp up the floor and go to town. There is usually a dumpster around somewhere to throw the carcuss and or scraps, or bring it back out with you, coyotes need to eat too!

Good luck!

I've stayed in 2 different motels in Flagstaff on the way to elk hunts in New Mexico. Can't remember which ones they were but they were on S Milton a little bit before the University. The people in the offices knew we were hunters and wished us luck and all that. Seems like that town is pretty hunter friendly. A little farther north on Milton there is a sport shop with some nice bucks and bulls on the wall. Stop in there before your hunt for some motivation!
