Hello,

Not been having much sucess lately. Want to know what are the right tactics at this time of year. We go in to out spot at about 6pm came from down wind to the edge of a nice watering hole that my friend has video of them in it about 2months ago. We did everything right except the wind was blowing hard but we where down wind. We had the brush up wind then the pond then us then the game trail down to the agracultural fields about 2miles away. There is not really any food on the property. Any ideas for me I am a novice hunter. Thanks again oh ya we where glassing hard expecially the north facing hills.

Hogs arent really that hard to hunt if you have permission on a decent piece of property. If your having problems finding them now my best guess would be water and feed. Everything is starting to dry up so find the water. Ok. Now feed. If there isnt any feed or like you said the feed is on the neighbors property then you gotta hope they are bedding down on your side of the property. Id bust some brush patches that the hog trails lead into from the watering hole or where the feed is comming from. Another nice trick is to rake out some of the hog trails out and see if any new tracks pop up between visits. Lastly, Sometimes the hogs will just move out for a while. Mabye the feed is better somewhere else or there is a lion on the property. Never know.

Also, if the pigs have had any pressure at all(and it doesn't take much), they will become nocturnal. If there is permanent water they won't be too far away though, but it will be that first or last hr, that you will have any chance seeing them in the open.
After the barley is headed out or even after it has been cut, they will be there at night eating the grain, then it's off to get a drink before bedding down.
And I do exactly like bigboar suggested, I find the trails with the freshest sign coming and going, then that's where I set up or make a bee line to first, then if I don't see anything , the sun is coming up and it's starting to get warm I head for where the trail hits the thickest stuff. I usually make water the priority as there is lots of feed especially this time of year.
Sometimes if you get down on your hands and knees you can see them or smell them laying up under the brush.
