  Bubba,
Had I payed a little more attention I would have noticed the work handle thing. Anyhow, thanks for clearing it up for me. I'm not sure when I'll have time to get up towards red bluff, but when I do I'll be sure to let you know.

BoarExpGuide,

I'm at the University of West Los Angeles School of Law right now, hoping to transfer to Whittier Law School after this semester. Im working towards my Juris Doctor. I plan on focusing my practice towards juvenile advocacy. I have 2 years left. I know exactly what you mean about those views on campus

shaginator,
You shouldn't really worry about most wildlife biologists.  They typically are educated and have taken classes that relate to hunting as a means of regulating wildlife populations.  However, you should be deathly afraid of the folks in the large cities (i.e LA, SF, etc.) that support organizations like "Animal Farm Aid" (group that saves chickens, turkeys and cows from being eaten).  Most of these people are ignorant to wildlife and issues of wildlife management.  These also are the folks that have prevented mt. lion management by the CADFG and other things that jeopardize hunting in California.

Maybe it's where I live (SoCal) but most of the biologists that I run into aren't overly friendly to hunters.  I've talked to one out at the Carrizo and had numerous unreturned calls from the local DF&G biologists around here.

You know, almost all of the state wildlife biologists have been helpful and I can't think of any that I thought were against hunting.  In fact I can't really think of any I talked with who did not hunt.  And this is in other states as well.

A couple of wildlife biologists I talked with in Idaho were not very helpful and not very friendly and gave very, very general information.  And they were hunters.  Maybe it had something to do with me being from California, however my buddy who lived up there got the same service.  However, these guys were doing their job.

On a brighter note, many of the biologists in California I have talked with have been extremembly helpful.

I know that if you call them up and the first words out of your mouth are "WHERE'S THE 6X6 BULL ELK AND 30 INCH MULE DEER" in a demanding voice that tends to turn them off.  And I am not saying any of you guys do that here.  I know when I have gone to hunting conferences like the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and others the biologists have told me horror stories of all the guys that call them demanding to know where the trophy game animals are.

I think the nicer you are to the biologists the more helpful they are in return and this works with other people as well.  Also, if you have done your homework they are more helpful.

Bill
