I've hunted pigs in TX near Junction,Uvalde,Leakey,Mason, etc both with friends and outfitters. Well my wife bought me a hunt at a White Tails Unlimited banquet(bless her)and we are going to Crystal City,TX to hunt in late Jan.,08.-- Anyone know anything about this operation? I view it with some trepidation as it was advertised as a Hog/Aoudad hunt- When questioned Jeff admitted 1in 25 folks see an Aoudad and 1-100 shoot one-about what I thought- at least he was honest- as usual with this kind of deal- you can buy extra days/ animals- any info or comments appreciated.

I hunted on the ranch a couple of years ago for exotics. The food is great. The hunting was fair. I had a couple of issues with his operation, but overall it was okay. First you are taken in a truck to a location in one of their fenced ranches. You are not allowed to walk at all and have to stay near the feeders where they set you. The sheep all pretty much hang out in the same place in a meadow or empty field surrounded by brush. When I was there I wanted an Axis and a Fallow so he told me to come in December. When I got there he said I should have come a different time because he only had a few Fallow and they had all dropped their antlers, and he only had a couple of Axis left and they were small. I ended up getting a nice blackbuck and a small axis. While I was there, I helped my "guide" unload some hogs from a truck and release them.
If you want a comfortable room, good food, a good butchering service, then it's a good operation. If you want good animals, it depends on what he's purchased from the game farms. If you want a tough and real hunt, go somewhere else. I don't know if all the ranches in TX are like this, but for exotics and sheep it was pretty much a canned hunt. I did see a quite a few deer that were native, but the other animals are all purchased and brought in each season. Also, he will tell you to really need to tip your guide for driving you around, so if you feel guilty easy bring money to tip. Let me know how you like it. If you don't see an Aoudad, he will probably let you shoot a different sheep.
