Thanks for posting my picks IKE!!It started out with finally drawing a ELK tag in AZ. I drew the early season multi unit tag. After that all the fun began. I checked around and decided on hiring a guilde, after that, all I had to do was get in shape metally, and shoot. My guide kept me pumped up all summer with storeis and bulls that he had picked out for me. The day before my hunt we watched a 330 or so bull bring his cows out of the trees and moved them to water. This was awsome!! We spotted two other bulls down on the flats rounding up cows, and they were both bigger. We spent the first two days playing hide and seek with the bulls on the flats. They were only vocal for a half hour in the morning and not at all at night. We decided to try another area, this area was on fire!! We had bulls going off for two or three hours in the morning. This is thick PJ country! we would get in close to bugling bulls 150 yds or closer and never could get a peek at them.

Day five started off the same, bulls going off!! We got on one bull that sounded the best, we were close again, saw his cows, but could not get a look at him. We started to just cross canyons towards there bedding area. The next canyon had a raghead 6X6, my guide did not even ask if I wanted to take him, he just said that is not the bull we want. He did not have the same bugle as the one we were after, but I am starting to think....last day... well maybe. So I talked to Dustin, he thought about it for about 30 seconds and said " I would not shoot him, we still have plenty of morning left"

So we follow the Rag head over the next canyon, and he met up with another rag head and some cows!! Now we know there has to be another BIG bull with them cows. We followed them over the next ridge to the next canyon. As they top the next ridge the big bull gives Dustin a quick look 4 or 5 seconds at best. So off we go!! But now we are pumped because we know what is on the other side!!
Sure enough, we are glassing the top of the next ridge, and the big bull is going up the other side. THIS IS IT, MY ONE CHANCE!! I droped to one knee and let one fly!! You could hear the THWAK!! But he sure didn't look to hurt.. We gave him about a hour and then took up the blood trail, there was not alot of blood and it was so thick, we backed out and gave him a few hours to stiffen up. With all the canyon running and yes we were running at times to try and keep up. We had come almost full loop back to the truck!! The bull was beaded down less that 100 yds from the truck!!

At noon we went in and got him, what a rush!!!! This was one of the best hunts of my life, not because of the animal, but I really had a great time.It is hard to beleive that elk live in that country, but they do. My guide and his family were great and just added to the enjoyment.

I would like to that alot of you guys out there that helped me out with ELK questions or reloading questions. They obviously helped!

nice mass, too bad it busted off the last point! Good Job![/b]

Your right WY... we guess that he would have been a 6X7 and he broke off 20 to 30 inches!!

congratulations on an AWESOME bull!

Have you taped it out?[/b]

We taped him out at about 350 +/- It is just huge! I don't know if I should post the
guides name and number. He might not want all the lookie lews calling. PM me if you would
like the name and number. I would defiantly recommend them.

Good luck to all still hunting!!
