Well guys, I decided I was going to break down and buy another camera. I couldn't decide between the C-730 and the C-2100. After reading all the reviews, doing side by side comparisons, and talking to alot of photographers with experiece with both cameras, I decided on the 2100. Then I found out that the 2100 had been disontinued over a year ago and was almost impossible to find due to its popularity. So for over a week I searched the internet high and low for one. I found tons of sites offering the 2100 new and refurbs for all kinds of prices. So I started calling the places one by one, none had the camera in stcck and said they hadn't in months. No one even had the refurbs. that they were advertising. Most all of them wanted to do the "bait and switch" ploy and sell me another camera. Now I was very frustrated. After calling every single place I could find, I decided there were none left to buy. I found a couple on Ebay but they were used and selling for close to $600. I figured I'd try to keep looking for a new one, since the used ones were that popular.
Finally I was told that a few Wal-Mart stores still had some in stock that were in the box but under the counter and forgotten about. So I started calling Wal-mart stores everywhere that I had family near. After talking to over 45 Wal-marts in 6 states, I found one camera in a store 3 hrs from me, new in the box. It was 6pm at night the day after Christmas. My wife and I got in the truck immediately and drove there and bought it for $389. I was not going to take a chance on not getting this camera.lol
All that being said, I'm soooooo happy with this camera so far. The 10x optical zoom and 2.7x digital zoom is awesome and I love how everything can be manually controlled like an SLR 35mm type camera. I'm sure the C-730 is a great camera and I was about to buy one. But the image stabilization in the C-2100 was a big bonus to me. It really does help the high zoom photos.
