If you haven’t figured it out by now… I’m one of those dorks who like bird watching, not really watching so much, just trying to get images of uncommon birds (it can be very addicting). I wouldn’t have started a new bird thread but I’m kind of happy to have found this small flock of Cedar Waxwings today… I’ve never seen them outside of a book before

I posted some of these on FM thinking I might have over P/P them, lol… I get back one comment that they are too soft ( I can’t win)

Great pics. The red berries really add some great color along with those beautiful birds.
I've seen a flock or two of them in my neck of the woods.

What kind of beriies/fruit are those?
I ask because where I grew up ( Silicon Valley) we had very similar berries all around the house. I forget what they were called.
For some reason those berries woudl ferment and we would have drunk birds flying into our windows and walls during various portions of the year. Not all survived the impact.

great captures you have here. I am going to look online and see if these guys come around Missouri. I'd like to get some shots of these guys.

Thanks guys.

Rumpled, I believe they are Hawthorn berries but I'm not 100% sure.

Hideandwatch, my field guide says that they range from southeastern Alaska east to Newfoundland, and down to California, Illinois, and Virginia. Winters from British Columbia, Great Lakes region and New England southward.

Well, you did it again! I'm updating my teaching computer with the first pic as my wallpaper. It looks "Christmasy" and I think my students will love it!

Thanks again for some beautiful pictures!

hideandwatch: you should be in luck...I've seen them come through here in Kansas late in the fall, but it's a little late to see them right now. I've only seen them about every other or third year though. They are a unique little bird thats for sure.
