Well I tagged out this morning on my 2005 turkey season. I had been trying to work that big ole Tom, but he just wasnt cooperating for me. Since I had already taken a trophy bird I decided to go ahead and take a jake. I could have been greedy and held out and possibly not had any more meat for the freezer. Absolutely no gobbles this morning and 4 hens flew down very quietly. After just a few minutes, they flew out of the field over the tree tops. I was going to make a move, thining that a yote or bobcat had spooked them out, and as I stood up I seen a nice jake across the field and another hen. Then the 4 hens that flew out flew back in making a hell of a ruckous and flew into the trees. I did a few soft yelps and clucks and the jake came in on a string to my decoys. He was wearing a 5" beard, had one nub for a spur on one leg and nothing on the other. I have to say it was the most exciting year I have had turkey hunting.
