I rcv'd a text from my brother last night who traveled to Idaho for Elk hunting - they are on a DIY hunt (no horses)...they've been seeing large herds of Elk - 15-30 in each herd. Been keeping track of one herd in particular over the past 4-5days and were able to put the stalk on and kill the 5x5 and a spike. No pictures yet...said they are going in today to pack them out. I'm assuming this is going to be at least 3-4 trips for the 4 of them. When he sends me pictures I'll post.

Over in the Salmon area...found a good spot last year when we were there. He just sent another note last night saying they ran into some "locals" who helped pack the elk on horses (8miles in). they were qtr'd and back at camp within 6hrs.

years ago we used to hunt the Swann Lake area of southeastern Idaho. We had friends who owned 50,000 acres...used to be great spot for mule deer, then more elk pulled into that area. Our friend sold the place in the early 90's
