Going to Idaho with my dad for our first archery elk hunt in September. He has recently had open heart surgery and is currently recovering well. We have both been training multiple days a week in the gym to prepare. We are using this trip as something to look forward to in rebuilding his abilities. I know its steep country but I was curious if anyone had any general elk hunting tips beyond "get out and hike" or "watch Randy Newberg". I am also curious to hear stories of Idaho hunts and what made you successful.
Our draw is for "north of Boise" by about 2 hours.
