Just bought myself a yellow/ white lab to train for shed hunting about 2 months ago. After I had him for about 3-4 weeks the 2 of us were hiking / looking for sheds. I was mostly just making sure he was getting familiar with the woods and running w/o a leash and just using a whistle to train him to heal. Anyway to make a boring story interesting... as we were making are way around a small slashing I looked down and spotted wolf tracks. Not anything out of the ordinary in Minnesota where a guy I talked to who is tracking and researching wolves believes that there are more than 250,000 wolves in Mn alone. Endangered Species My Butt! Back to the tracks, Less than a minute later as I am watching the pup run in front of me I glance over my shoulder behind me and within 20 yards I see a Timber heading right at us. I yelled "hey" and reached for my Piece but it was gone in a second, followed by another one that I did not see. How upset do you think I was? New pup, Animal stalking my pup that legally I can't shoot. I won't hesitate to even think about putting some lead into one of those wild mutts. People I have talked to have heard of many attacks on peoples dogs around the area, but we are breaking the law by protecting our family pets. Aren't laws BS.... Have a great sheddin spring....
This is not the first human wolf encounter of this type and it's not going to be the last. These are the same wolves that were introduced into the Yellowstone Park. These wolves have no fear of man because they have nothing to fear because they are protected. Don't think for a minute that these wont end up as far away as Colorado it's already happened.
What or who is endangered sportsman or wolf ? The equation here is very and simple add wolves which are on the endagered list a large food source and cut the deer, elk, and moose numbers down. That equals less game, fewer tags and and closed seasons. Who has everthing to gain and nothing to loose, the anti crowd.
