Went out bow hunting this evening and out of the blue came a hog on an mission some where but where I was he stopped a few times for me the last time he stopped just 20y or less right in front of me. With a few seconds to shoot I go for it and flinch *%*%# saw my arrow go just under it's chest and off he goes

Happens to us all at some point. The only time I've had the opportunity to fling a pointy stick at an animal I had the same result. My first season of archery hunting 30yd shot at a nice 3x3 I missed so bad I just started laughing uncontrollably.

The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. It hurts but it's still kewl to get that close to a wild hog.

All you can do is chalk it up to part of the learning curve. Don't you just want to kick the guy who says he never missed? Anybody who shoots a bow has experienced the same thing.

Yeah last year turkey hunting in San Diego I had a pig come up behind me and I shot just as he turned and missed.It was still very thrilling.

It is all a matter of outlook.. I think it was a "win-win".

You got out to go hunting, see the hog and have your heart rate go off scale so you "WIN" and the hog got to see you, have its heart rate go off scale and got away to be chased another day so he/she had a "WIN".

Lol I guess that's a good way to look at it. The land owner sead I just gave him a lesson I need to practice on doing quick shots on squrals I can wack them out to 40 yards about 60% of the time so this 20- yard hog dam next time

Varmits just arnt the same. IT's why we archery hunt. Ive missed 2 turkeys this season down from 4 last year, just glad to get the opportunity.

First rifle hunt I went on for pigs just last summer, I emptied my gun at a trotting pig at 40 yards, then borrowed the guide's and sent a couple more in the general direction, with no effect.:shootin-rifle: I don't know how my guide kept from laughing out loud, but he was a real gentleman.
We got in the rig, and headed into the next valley, and spotted the pig climbing the ridge.
When I finally got another chance, same pig, I took a rest, and drilled it through the heart at around 100 yards. :toast-yellow:
I shot at the pig 6 times without scratching it. Then, when I finally calmed down, I did the deed. The adrenalin shakes lasted for a couple of hours. I think Buck Fever hits us all, and it is part of the package of being a human bean. :rotflmao:
